What shall we do?

We handle all the necessary legal work to correct errors or request name changes on certificates issued by the Puerto Rico Population Registry.

Administrative Process: Available in limited cases, usually when the error originates from the Demographic Registry itself. The process may include correcting the certificate.

Legal proceedings: This requires a court order addressed to the Civil Registry. It is necessary for name changes and for most corrections that cannot be made through administrative channels.

Examples:

✅ Possible administrative error: The mother reported and signed the name “Justiniana” at the time of birth, but the issued certificate reads “Juana.”

⚖️ Name change: The original document and the certificate say “Marisol, ” but the person wishes to be called “María.” Since there is no error on the certificate, the person must go to court.
