2) What is the purpose of an Acknowledgment of Paternity?
This form is used to request that the father's information be added to the child's birth certificate in the Puerto Rico Demographic Registry. It may also involve updating the child's last names.

8) What is included in the cost if the case qualifies?
Includes expedited processing by an attorney, preparation of the required documents, filing and follow-up with the Demographic Registry, visits by the attorney to the Demographic Registry, stamps and internal revenue receipts, and obtaining and mailing the updated birth certificate once the process is complete.
9) How long does the process take?
The estimated time is 30 days, starting from the time we confirm that we can assist you, payment is received, and all required information and documentation is received.
10) Can I proceed if one of the parents refuses to sign?
Do not file a petition without a prior evaluation. If one of the parents is unavailable or does not wish to sign voluntarily, first complete the Acknowledgment of Paternity Evaluation Form Acknowledgment of Paternity determine whether another type of proceeding is appropriate.
11) What happens if another parent is already listed on the certificate?
