What is the Certificate of Citizenship of Puerto Rico?
Since 2007, there is what is known as the Certificate of Citizenship of Puerto Rico. This Certificate is a document validated by the Supreme Court of PR according to the case Ramírez Ferrer v. Spain, for example, allows a PR person to present such evidence to preferentially acquire Spanish citizenship. This is because Spain specifically recognizes Puerto Ricans as coming from an "Ibero-American country". Thus, they are eligible to be granted dual nationality.
