Description
What does this service include?
This service includes the processing of one (1) official certification with the Puerto Rico Registry of Powers of Attorney.
We review the information and documents provided, prepare the corresponding application, handle the applicable requirements, and follow up on the process.
The Power of Attorney Registry maintains the notifications it receives and the information recorded in connection with powers of attorney.
What information can the certification include?
- Certification of Registration: It may certify that a notice of a power of attorney has been entered in the Registry, along with the information recorded regarding it.
- Certification of Non-Existence: This certifies that no power of attorney matching the information provided in the application has been filed.
⚠️ Important: Certification does not create, renew, modify, or correct a power of attorney. Nor does it, on its own, determine whether the power of attorney is sufficient or acceptable for a specific transaction.
Who is eligible to request this service?
The applicant must demonstrate a legitimate interest in the certification. Typically, the application may be filed by the principal, the agent, an attorney or legal representative of either of these individuals, or a person authorized in writing.
This document is typically required by financial institutions, notaries, registries, or other entities that need to verify the information recorded in the Power of Attorney Registry.
Requirements for Applying for a Power of Attorney Certificate
- Certified copy of the power of attorney: The Registry requires that the application be accompanied by a certified copy. If you only have an uncertified copy, you may also upload it to help us identify the document, but a certified copy may be required.
- Available information regarding the power of attorney: full name of the principal and the agent, date of execution, deed number, volume, page number, and name of the notary who executed the deed, if available.
- Previous Certification from the Registry of Powers of Attorney: If you have a previous certification related to the power of attorney, you can upload it when completing the order. It is not required, but it may help identify the requested procedure.
- Valid photo ID: for the applicant.
- Legal representation: If you are applying as an attorney or legal representative, you must provide the appropriate documentation, as applicable.
If an institution provided you with specific instructions, please upload them or indicate them in the notes section of your order.
