You can request the Divorce Certificate directly from us. - ⚠️ Marriage in Puerto Rico and divorce outside Puerto Rico:
First, you must validate the foreign divorce in Puerto Rico through a procedure called
exequatur. Only then can you apply for a Certificate of Divorce. - ⚠️ Marriage outside Puerto Rico and divorce in Puerto Rico:
You must send us a certified copy of the divorce decree.
What happens after divorce in Puerto Rico?
🏛️ Once the divorce decree is issued in Puerto Rico, the court must send it to the Demographic Registry so that it can be officially registered.
⚠️ However, in some cases this does not happen. If the divorce was not registered in the Demographic Registry, it will be necessary to obtain a certified copy of the judgment. This entails an additional cost.
