Description
What is a certified copy?
✅ A certified copy is an official reproduction of a document, issued with a certification confirming its authenticity.
📄 It may include affixed Internal Revenue Service stamps or an equivalent official certification, depending on the type of document and the applicable system.
When is a certified copy required?
⚖️ It is required for legal, government, banking, immigration, or official procedures in Puerto Rico and, on occasion, outside of Puerto Rico.
📌 Certified copies are used for documents such as:
- Judgments or court orders
- Court case files or documents
- Notarized documents or deeds
- Other official documents when you are asked to provide a “certified” copy
✅ If you were asked for a certified copy, it's because they do not accept an uncertified copy, a photograph, or an uncertified PDF.
Certified copies of divorce decrees
✅ We can obtain a certified copy of a divorce decree, if that is the document you are being asked to provide.
⚠️ However, for many procedures, only the Certificate of Divorce is required if the marriage was registered in Puerto Rico.
👉 Before filling out the Evaluation Form, make sure you know exactly whether you are being asked to provide a certified judgment, a divorce certificate, or both documents.
Who can request a certified copy?
✅ It depends on the type of document and the applicable access rules.
🔒 In the case of confidential or restricted-access documents—such as certain family matters, cases involving minors, or divorce proceedings—only the parties involved, their heirs, authorized representatives, or a person with sufficient standing may request a copy.
📜 In the case of notarial documents or deeds, the request must usually be made by a party, an interested person, heir a person entitled to a copy, as applicable.

⚠️ Please complete the Evaluation Form first and wait for our written confirmation before placing your order.
👉 When placing your order, you'll need to upload a valid photo ID and any additional documentation or authorization we may request.

The fee is very affordable and well-worth the cost. It would have been many times more expensive to travel to Puerto Rico to obtain the documents personally, and extremely difficult to do given the COVID-19 situation.

It has been a satisfying experience, the lawyer was in contact with me all the time and most importantly the impossible made it possible to get a document almost 21 years ago in less than 15 days. Thank you for restoring the confidence of one who does not know you in person, but with this work I recommend you blindly. Blessings to your team and keep it even though they will continue to grow that spirit of service and dedication.
