It is exceptional in nature and entails legal complexity.

To whom can you leave your assets?

Forced heirs: The forced heirs (children and spouse, or, in their absence, parents), according to the law in Puerto Rico, cannot be excluded without a specific cause.
According to the 2020 Civil Code, at least half of the assets must go to the forced heirs, while the rest can be freely disposed of.

Before making a will, it is advisable to make an inventory of assets and debts, including property, bank accounts, vehicles, loans, among others.
